Animation has a unique power to captivate audiences, bringing characters and stories to life in ways that traditional art forms often cannot. As an artist who has spent countless hours sketching, I have found that the world of animation has profoundly influenced my artistry. In this blog post, I will explore how I became one with art.

Genetics

Butterflies see distinguished colors that are invisible to the human eye. My mother was one of those people who sparked differently among the crowd. She was a self-made animator back in those days. My mother approached random companies, knocking on their front doors, begging to be a coffee lady or janitor. She started as a person handing out coffee to become the person in the studio, creating iconic history. She has animated one of the most famous cartoon shows, such as Bob’s Burgers, The Boondocks, Akira, King of the Hill, and more. With a mother like this, of course I was bound to fall in love with animation and the art industry.

My Inspiration for Art Growing Up: My Mother

Influence of My Mother's Illustrations on My Artistic Journey

The gallery above showcases my mother's stunning illustrations, which have profoundly influenced my own artistic development. Growing up surrounded by her artwork, I gained a deep appreciation for the nuances of movement and expression in illustration. Her ability to capture fluidity in her characters has inspired me to explore similar techniques in my own sketches. I often recall her stories of traditional paper art animation, where she meticulously turned each corner of a sheet to create the next frame. Moreover, I feel fortunate to have inherited her artistic talent, which has given me a natural advantage in pursuing my passion for art. My mother's illustrations serve as both a foundation and a constant source of inspiration as I continue to develop my own style.

The Impact of Art To Others

Sharing My Work with an Audience

I am not greedy with my art. I grew up gifting the people I cherish my piece of art to show my admiration for them. This grew into a huge advantage for me to gift those who lost loved ones. I spent many years painting and sketching pictures of pets and people who are loved by many.

Working at Starbucks, it was an amazing experience to connect with customers to the point they remembered my handwriting and drawings on a cup. I created strong connections with many and gifted every one of them painting and sketches! This also includes my coworkers who I painted personalized name tags for!

Conclusion

The influence of animation on my sketch artistry has been profound and transformative. From understanding movement and character design to embracing storytelling and technology, animation has shaped my artistic journey in countless ways. As I continue to explore the intersection of animation and sketch art, I am excited to see how these influences will evolve and inspire my future work.

By embracing the principles and techniques of animation, I have found new ways to express my creativity and connect with my audience. I encourage fellow artists to explore the world of animation and discover how it can enhance their own artistic practices. Whether through studying animated films, experimenting with different styles, or incorporating storytelling into their sketches, the possibilities are endless.

As you embark on your artistic journey, remember that inspiration can come from unexpected places. Embrace the influence of animation and let it guide you in your sketch artistry.
